Kenny Chesney's Back Where I Come From Concert On CMT
08-01-03
CMT joins multi-million selling superstar Kenny Chesney for the biggest homecoming bash of the year when he heads back to his old stomping grounds in Knoxville, Tenn., for Kenny Chesney: Back Where I Come From. The thunderous one-hour concert special, which includes documentary behind-the-scenes moments, will premiere Friday, Aug. 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT
In addition to Detroit rap/rockers Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker and NFL superstar/University of Tennessee Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, over 61,000 of Chesney's closest friends came to the University of Tennessee's legendary Neyland Stadium -- the second largest collegiate stadium in the United States -- for the first concert there since The Jackson's Victory Tour 21 years ago.
"When I came out and saw that crowd, I almost broke down. Those were my people -- it was my hometown," said Chesney. "And in a strange way, it felt like a journey we'd all been a part of. It didn't just feel like my dream, it felt like their dream, too. And that was a moment I almost didn't recover from."
Kenny Chesney: Back Where I Come From was shot in high definition by Los Angeles' Live Animal Productions and directed by Beth McCarthy, who directed the halftime show at the 2003 Super Bowl.
